Dental Services for Children
Pediatric dentists are specifically trained to provide comprehensive dental care services to infants and children, including children with special needs.
Dental services for children ages 6 months to 14 years include:
- Routine and periodic dental exams
- Cleanings
- Fluoride treatments
- Sealants
- Comprehensive treatment services (fillings, crowns, extractions and space maintenance)
San Ysidro Health also goes to pre-schools, elementary schools and WIC Nutrition Centers to provide oral health screenings and preventive dental care to young children.
Children’s Dental Center at Rady Children’s Hospital
Children’s Dental Center at Rady Children’s Hospital is one of the few pediatric dental clinics in Southern California that provides comprehensive dental care services not only for children who are healthy, but also for those who are medically compromised, have special needs and/or are behaviorally challenged. Children between the ages of 0 and 14 are eligible to be seen at this clinic.
Children’s Dental Center at Rady Children’s Hospital also works closely with Rady Children’s Hospital Hematology/Oncology department to deliver dental treatment to those patients who have been diagnosed with cancer and/or are in need of organ/bone marrow transplantation.
San Ysidro Health hosts a Pediatric Dental Residency Program at Children’s Dental Center at Rady Children’s Hospital which is operated in affiliation with Lutheran Medical Center, a hospital and health-center based training program fully accredited by the American Dental Association Commission on Dental Accreditation.
