FAQs

We invite you to review some of our most Frequently Asked Questions.

Are you a free clinic?

We are not a free clinic. San Ysidro Health is a Federally Qualified Health Center offering high-quality, affordable healthcare. If you have government-issued medical insurance, such as Medi-Cal, you may qualify for medical care at no cost to you. If you do not have government-issued medical insurance, you can apply for our affordable sliding scale fee discount program or request a self-pay payment plan.

Regardless of your ability to pay, San Ysidro Health will work hard to meet your medical needs.

I have private medical insurance through my employer. Can I still receive medical attention at San Ysidro Health?

The sliding scale fee discount program offers affordable medical, dental, laboratory, x-ray, and pharmacy services to our uninsured and/or underinsured patients. Eligibility for the program is primarily based on family size and income.
To apply, you must provide proof of income, such as your most recent paycheck stub.

For a complete list of qualifying documents and ways to access these lower costs for your care, please ask a Patient Services Representative (located at your clinic’s registration desk) for further details.

The discount is good for up to six months and can be renewed.

Are language interpreters available during medical and dental appointments?

Yes. Before your appointment, you can request a list of languages for which professional interpreter services are available by calling (619) 662-4100.

All San Ysidro Health Patient Services Representatives (located at your clinic’s registration desk) can also help with scheduling an interpreter for your appointment..
