What do dogs, cats, Selena Quintanilla, the trolley, soccer, civil rights leaders and Ukraine have in common? They are part of the fabric of San Diego County’s unique collection of public murals.
Colorful murals with interesting backstories can be found across the region, some culturally significant, some with deep meaning for the communities where they’ve been painted.
I put together a list of 12 of my favorite public murals that were completed in the last few years. They all have a special story to tell, and are chosen to make up a self-guided tour. All murals are on display indefinitely, unless noted.
Take a look and let me know what your favorite mural is here.
